ALA Youth Media Awards

Waking up early in the morning is a chore, ask anyone. But waking up early to go attend the Youth Media Awards to hear the best of the best books of 2009 be announced among a crowd of people who picked these books after carefully scrutinizing them based on various criterion, and people who published them, and librarians who put them on their library bookshelves, and readers, like me who loved them, was an absolutle pleasure!

Thankfully , I'd found my camera before going to Boston and charged it in anticipation of this event, to be able to caputre it on video and put it out there for you all to see!

The William C. Morris Award: (From the ALA website)

Flash Burnout by L.K. Madigan, published by Houghton Mifflin/Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

Blake’s life is way too complicated. He’s a sophomore with a girlfriend and a friend who is a girl. One loves him. One needs him. Can he please them both? The voices of the characters are accurate, evocative and humorous capturing the everyday adolescent stresses and misunderstandings that are so hard to live through.

Congratulations to L.K. Madigan on a well deserved win!!!

Tomorrow some more videos from the YMA!

Until next time,
